Xcellence Ignited Presents: Our Story Black History Book Giveaway

Our Story: Black History Book Giveaway is a community-driven literacy and cultural education initiative created by Xcellence Ignited to empower young minds through early exposure to Black history, identity, and excellence.

This initiative will support 10 Black-owned child care centers, each receiving 5 age-appropriate Black history books to incorporate into their classroom learning and reading activities. The goal is to introduce children to the foundations of Black history at an early age—highlighting culture, leadership, resilience, and positive representation in a way that is engaging and developmentally appropriate.

Participating child care centers will host a book reading experience, creating a welcoming and educational environment that celebrates Black History Month. Centers will be encouraged to design a thoughtful presentation and reading setup that reflects creativity, cultural pride, and student engagement.

To further encourage participation and innovation, one center will be selected to receive a sponsored children’s incentive, awarded to the center that demonstrates the strongest presentation, learning environment, and overall engagement during the reading experience.

The primary purpose of this giveaway is to:

• Educate children early about Black History Month

• Promote literacy and positive self-identity

• Support and uplift Black-owned child care centers

• Encourage culturally responsive education at a foundational age

• Create lasting learning moments that extend beyond February
